Adventure360's Melissa and Becky checked out Australia's Red Centre and shared their experience. Read on to hear all about it.
Hi everyone!
If you find yourself in Australia, then a trip to the Red Centre is definitely a must! We've just come back from a 3 day tour of Uluru and surrounding areas and have to say, it was amazing! We were a little dubious at first, I mean, you travel all that way to see a big rock, but we were gladly proved wrong.
We made our way to Alice Springs from Melbourne, which was a short 2-hour flight and then spent the day soaking up the desert sunshine and preparing ourselves for the days ahead. The trip started at a bright and early 6am the next day and we were picked up by our awesome tour guide. It's a 4 hour drive to the national park so we had lots of time to spot Kangaroos and Dingos from the windows!
Uluru crept up on us in the distance and before we knew it we had arrived! We took a stroll around the rock, but not up it. It's advised against climbing it as it's so full of history and really, really steep!
That night we were introduced to a swag (imagine 'I'm a celebrity, get me out of here') and our bed for the night. At first, I (Melissa) was very reluctant, but once night fell and we were sleeping under the stars I came round, a little bit anyway!
The next couple of days were dedicated to walks around Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon, taking in the beautiful sights and soaking up the sunshine, whilst making friends with everyone on our tour.
If you're thinking about taking a trip to the Red Centre, definitely do! Remember to bring lots of water though, and long loose clothing, you'll get plenty burnt otherwise.
